Word Search: learn through an example

Read the aim of Word Search, then make your first move. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.

Try a more deliberate round

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Refer to the controls when needed.

What counts as success

Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Keep the controls in easy reach.

Making your moves

  1. Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
  2. Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
  3. Find all eight targets.
  4. New puzzle shuffles again.

The controls to know

Tap or click endpoints. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Read the example below alongside these instructions.

An example before you play

Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Consider the next action carefully.

Avoid this misunderstanding

Words cannot turn corners. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
