Word Recall: rules and examples

Take a moment with Word Recall before moving to another game. Identify new and previously seen words before losing three lives. Use the example below to understand a decision. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Included vocabulary and random repeats; a game, not a medical memory assessment.

One thing to notice as you play

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Keep the objective visible.

What you are aiming for

A walkthrough of the rules

  1. Read each displayed word.
  2. Choose New word or Seen before.
  3. Remember words from this round only.
  4. Three mistakes end the round.

Making selections and moves

Click or tap one of the two answer buttons. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Check any mode label before starting.

One way to understand the rules

PLANT seen earlier in the same round requires Seen before. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Take a moment to compare.

Pay attention to this rule

A word from an earlier round does not count as seen now. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
