Mahjong Connect: what to know before playing

Bring your attention to one round of Mahjong Connect. Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. Look at what changes after your first action. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Use the example below to understand a decision.

6×8 grid and two-turn path finding.

One thing to notice as you play

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Make the next step deliberately.

The goal to keep in mind

Remove matching tiles connected by a path of at most two turns. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

The order of play

  1. Select equal tiles.
  2. The route must cross only empty cells.
  3. An outside-border path is allowed.
  4. Open connections by removing pairs.

Using the playing area

Tap pairs; use Hint and Undo. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

An example to follow

A same-row pair needs an empty route between its endpoints. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Take a moment to compare.

Avoid this misunderstanding

Three corners are invalid. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
